About Me

Photographer + Facilitator

Capturing authentic stories

Many years ago, I found my true calling when I set my alarm for 3am to photograph a sardine fisherman.

The idea of cruising into a wild black ocean to photograph a fisherman pulling nets at sunrise was my kind of uni assignment. Twenty five years later, I’m still setting my alarm for 3am. But it’s to document ultra-marathon runners enduring a grueling 200 mile multi-day trail race along the southern coastline.

I thrive on adventure and love capturing those hard-to-get moments. It’s not just about being in the right place at the right time—it’s about uncovering the stories hidden in those authentic, fleeting moments.

Quality images with a fast turn-around

That early morning with the sardine fisherman sparked a love for photojournalism and nine-year career as a press photographer for The West Australian Newspaper. It taught me to think on my feet, adapt to unpredictable situations, and consistently produce high-quality images under tight deadlines—sometimes crafting a front-page photo and delivering it within just 30 minutes.

This shaped my photography and how I deliver my images.

YET

From press photographer to community storyteller

While I love a bit of action, I also spent 10 years living and working in the Wheatbelt where life slowed down. I saw fewer people, drove vast distances on my own and I learnt to never judge a rural community by its town's main street. An idea was born. Bring communities together through the power of story. Local stories, told by the locals themselves. People are the backbone of our communities, but the stories are the thread that ties them all together.

It’s not just my photo stories that need to be seen and heard but Our Photo Stories.

Our Photo Stories has:

Raised Awareness

Increased understanding and awareness about the experiences and challenges faced by a community member living with disability, promoting empathy and inclusion in her small town.

Showcased Communities

Facilitated community images to be showcased on the Yagan Digital Tower in Perth's CBD. Images from Southern Cross, Mullewa, and Lake Grace were exhibited. This initiative forged a meaningful connection between regional communities and the heart of the city

Provided E-Learning

Created an inclusive environment by providing mentoring online for a boarding school student who couldn’t attend my workshop in person. She could still create her photo story and be part of the community event.

I’d love to help bring your towns stories to life. When I work with a town, I get to know it inside and out. Before we start, it’s only fair if you know a little bit more about me.
